Intimate Partner Femicide and Firearm Policy: A Data-Driven Infographic

This infographic explores the intersection of gun policy and gender-based violence, focusing on the alarming rates of intimate partner femicide committed with firearms. It highlights how gun use disproportionately impacts women — particularly in cases of intimate partner violence, homicide, and coercive control — and emphasizes the urgent need for stronger firearm legislation and survivor-centered support systems.

Grounded in data from Everytown Research & Policy (2024), the design presents key statistics and evidence-based solutions through clear, proportional visualizations and a narrative structure that guides viewers through the issue’s scope and impact. A structured layout, minimal text, and a red–white–blue palette connect the piece to its U.S. policy context, while careful attention to readability and emotional resonance ensures accessibility and engagement.

Created with empathy and a “do no harm” framework, the infographic avoids graphic imagery and instead uses symbolic visuals to convey urgency and hope. The language and tone center survivors, focusing on empowerment, resilience, and collective action.

By blending compelling data visualization with thoughtful storytelling, this work aims to inform, inspire, and drive meaningful change in the ongoing fight against gun violence toward women — especially within intimate relationships.
